Eclectic Romantic Table Styling With Tesco

Have you seen the new ranges Tesco has recently launch for their Autumn /Winter 14 Homewares collection? They have some seriously affordable and very lovely new designs. I have bought a few new pieces for my own home and so I thought I’d share how I styled my Eclectic Romantic dining table using products sourced at Tesco.

So the elements from Tesco I used to style my table are:- Grey Tartan throw (Which I used as my tablecloth!! – Why not?) Grey Floral china, Cakestand, Recycled glasses, Vintage style glasses, Grey cotton napkins, Bottle vase, Tortoiseshell tealight holders, Grey Glass jar Candle, Marie Therese Chandelier in Mink, and the strawberry cupcakes were from the Bakery Project in store. Yum!

I wanted to create an Eclectic Romantic feel for this tablesetting so to get the electric vibe going I mixed up some styles and patterns, I blended the soft grey tartan throw/ table cover with delicate floral design on the china, vintage style embossed pattern glasses and a touch of leopard print from the tealight holders. It all works together because of the colour scheme, I’ve used a base colour palette of greys, dusky pink and a good dose of white and the vibrant pink flowers with green foiliage to give the table a pop and something natural. The black and gold in the leopard print keeps the look on trend and I think adds a little quirkiness. I used these gorgeous recycled glass wine glasses and vintage style embossed pattern tumblers. I wasn’t to precious about how the napkins were folded as I wanted the table to have a pretty relaxed feel and to not look too formal so I just roughly folded them.

Flowers are a key ingredient when creating a romantic setting here I used dusky pink hydrangeas picked from my garden loosely in a posy with pink stocks from Tesco and actually faux peonies – I’m not usually a fan of faux flowers but when the flowers I really want to use are not in season I look for good fakes and when they are mixed with fresh cut flowers it can really work. I used my mix of old and new chairs around the table, the old ones I bought from flea markets and charity shops and the new ones are Eames inspired. I added ribbons to each cutlery set using a mix of grey and green ribbons and tied in a bow. The ceramic cake stand acts as a centerpiece, I chose these strawberry cupcakes because of the pink icing swirls. It’s nice to serve foodie treats which match your table setting!
