For a while my husband and I have been in the process of buying a new house and last weekend over the Easter Holidays we finally got the keys and moved in to our Victorian house in Guildford, Surrey. I have loved the early days of making it our home, my husband has been repairing and fixing things, he’s a DIY dab hand and I have added a few touches to make it feel like our space. We are planning to work our way around the house decorating room by room. Above are a few snaps I shared via Instagram @selinalake – I’m delighted to have a built in linen cupboard (It’s the small things!) it was also a thrill to find a mini bluebell meadow at the bottom of our garden and there’s even a fantastic charity shop nearby where I found the vintage plates & tin. I have reused the floral lanterns I used to decorate our wedding reception in a lot of the rooms, framed our wedding invitation for the gallery wall which I’m planning for the upstairs hallway and stuck some of my favorite magazine tearsheets up with washi tape in my new office, plus finally I have a retro style Smeg fridge/freezer (I’ve wanted one of this since I was about 15!!)
How exciting Selina! It all sounds wonderful, and I'm sure you'll have many happy and hardworking days ahead transforming the house and garden to reflect your style and taste. And how perfect to have a good charity shop nearby!

How exciting!! All looking fantastic, I am trying to figure out if I have room for a Smeg, I've always wanted one but my kitchen is rather lacking…hope you're having great dinners with it 😉

I love that part of moving into a new home! Decorating can be so fun if you don't let it get stressful. We just started construction on a new home in AK and I can't wait to be able to move in. It's like an empty canvas waiting to be painted.
